Job Description
The program begins with a 60-hour first-aid training emergency medical service (EMS) course. This is an intense ten days of learning that covers material ranging from bandaging a simple wound through CPR and mass-casualty incidents. The training is followed by volunteer work on ambulances for 5 weeks. On the ambulance participants experience the diversity of the Israeli people, their varied ethnicities, religions and beliefs. Program participants work with Israelis in an Israeli environment, allowing them to improve their Hebrew and make new friends. All this while saving lives. Requirements
The Magen David Adom Ambulance Volunteer Program in Memory of Yochai Porat is run by the International Department of Magen David Adom (the Israeli Red Cross equivalent) and the Israel Experience Educational Tourism Services Ltd. The program brings hundreds of young people from all over the world to Israel each year to work on ambulances with Israeli staff and volunteers.
